Pueraria (Kudzu Root), The initial record of the plant as a medicine is in the ancient herbal text of Shen Nong (circa AD 100) in China, having been used in cooking, weaving, decorating and treating human ailments. In Traditional Chinese Medicine , Kudzu root is used for: Thirst Headache Stiff neck with pain due to high blood pressure Allergies Migraine headaches Diarrhea Drunkenness Angina pectoris Active Ingredient: Isoflavones, such as daidzein, as well as isoflavone glycosides, such as daidzin, Puerarin-7-xyloside and puerarin. It was not until 1876 when Pueraria lobata was brought to Philadelphia from Japan, that plants of the genus Pueraria were introduced to the USA.
